when I think
When I think that I am good enough even better than my brothers,
I am ignorant! Only He who has shown everlasting and unshakable goodness is Good!
When I think that I am wise and smart enough, even better than my brothers,
I am ignorant! Only He whose Wisdom great and marvelous to be called Wise!
When I think that I am loving enough, even more pleasing than my brothers,
I am ignorant! Only He who has endured cross and full of humility is Love!
When I think that I am worthy enough, even higher than my brothers,
I am ignorant! Only He is Worthy!
Ignorant and unworthy... nothing: that's what I am.
Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner!

Nice poem, Yudhie, and it is true, of course, but I still want to carry you on my shoulders as if you are a hero.
ReplyDeleteIf you humble yourself, you will be exalted. But even if God raises you on high, remember it is His love that makes you what you are.
Lord, have mercy.
May we never be proud of our nothingness.
ReplyDeleteThanks R for your loving word :). Lord have mercy!
ReplyDeleteSteve: Amen!
Hi Yudie,
ReplyDeleteMy good friend and brother in Christ, Romanos shared your story with me. May the Lord guide you in his truth and grace. I like your poem. You may not be familiar with the one below (which is in a similar vein) by John Bunyan who lived in the 1600's, and later became very famous for writing the Pilgrim's Progress. He actually wrote the book while in prison for preaching the gospel and used the money to help feed his large family including his little blind daughter. I hope you like it. Peace and Grace.
He that is down need fear no fall;
He that is low, no pride;
He that is humble, ever shall
Have God to be his Guide.
I am content with what I have,
Little be it or much;
And, Lord, contentment still I crave,
Because Thou savest such.
Fullness to such a burden is,
That go on pilgrimage;
Here little, and hereafter bliss,
Is best from age to age.
Hi Andrew Kenny,
ReplyDeleteI glorify God for letting me know you :). Thanks for visiting this humble blog and leaving comment as well.
I think I have ever heard a little bit about pious man John Bunyan. Thanks for sharing his great poem to me! I love it. Although because of my poor English, it is quite challenging, but thanks, it is also a learning for me!
